In this course an overview of the various methods for the advanced micro and
nanofabrication currently employed for the development and application of devices and in general of functionalized surfaces will be provided. Particular attention will be paid to the electrochemical and electrocatalytic sensors, as well as to photocatalytic materials currently scheduled for use in a wide range of conversion devices and energy storage. The methods of nano and micromanufacturing presented will include digital printing techniques, photolithography and electrochemical approaches. These methods will be discussed ahead of their possibilities for industrial scale production. It will also be shown how the micro and nanostructured surfaces are characterized by spectroscopy, microscopy and electrochemicals methods.
