Chemistry and Complexity: Theory and Applications

16 Apr

Prof. Pier Luigi Gentili, Università degli Studi di Perugia

Period: 5 days in Perugia, September 2027
Duration: Approximately 24 hours of lectures + poster sessions and shotgun presentations

The course aims to train young researchers to address major global challenges through the study of Complex Systems. The principles and methodologies of Complex Systems Science will be presented, highlighting how chemistry plays a central role in the study and management of such systems. Examples drawn from Systems Chemistry, Synthetic Biology, Life-like Materials, and Chemical AI will be used to illustrate the concepts. Strategies to overcome challenges in the study of complex systems—such as Systems Thinking, Natural Computing, and AI—will also be discussed.
