The course explores the logic of C–C bond formation through nucleophile-electrophile interactions, analyzing the reactivity of carbanions based on the metal used. Organolithium, Grignard, organozinc, and organocuprate reagents will be covered, including their preparation, synthetic use, and limitations. Strategies for stabilizing carbanionic reagents and their applications in pharmaceutical synthesis and advanced materials will be discussed.
