This course introduces the fundamental principles and applications of spectroelectrochemistry for
investigating redox processes, reactive intermediates, and catalytic mechanisms.
Particular emphasis will be placed on UV–Vis spectroelectrochemistry, including experimental
configurations, data interpretation, and applications to homogeneous catalysis and organic
photocatalysis.
Complementary techniques, including Raman, IR, and EPR spectroelectrochemistry, will be
introduced, highlighting their applications to heterogeneous catalysis under in situ and operando
conditions.
Selected examples, from pioneering studies to recent developments, will illustrate how
spectroelectrochemical approaches provide mechanistic insights into catalytic processes and enable
chemical sensing applications.
